Notes: I always planned to write Fox's wooing of Dinah. Hasn't happened yet, but this is a start!

The first thing Fox noticed about Dinah was her right hand. It was shapely and delicate, the bone of her wrist jutted out just enough to be noticeable beneath the silver charm bracelet she wore. The celestial charms tinkled together making a very unique sound when she lightly drummed petite fingers with darkly painted nails on the desk in mild impatience.

 

At least, that's what it seemed to be; it was hard to tell staring at the back of her head.

 

Fox was always late to biology. He usually had it in the afternoon, and he was always running to make it on time to the first class after lunch, after hastily sharing a cigarette with Collin behind the student services building. With assigned alphabetical-order seating placing him in the bench third from the back, he rarely got to view the faces of those sitting in front of him.

 

His eyes traveled from her hand up her arm, across her shoulders, down her back and up to her head, where he caught a fleeting glimpse of her face as she pushed dark hair over her shoulder.

 

The day Fox first noticed Dinah's hand, he wished his surname began with a 'J', too.
