I got some really great feedback, and it made me go 'huh, these fics are still relevant'. And it really encouraged me to write some more. The 3rd ep was never meant to be the end of the series, I just moved on to other things. So... 7 yrs later, I start up again. The very last dialogue exchange is a shout-out to Bananas in Pajamas. Notes: Duo POV. This piece takes ranking with State of Emergency (ep 6) as my favourite. From Duo's manic inner monologue about flooring, to their discussion on how they first met the other pilots, to the D&M at the end, and the resulting Trowa catharsis and truth 'fess up... Everything just came together beautifully, and I'm so proud to have written it. Mad props to Stephanie on her beta of this fic, as well. I was so afraid of not getting down to the nuts and bolts of their D&M at the end... I didn't want to skimp on the emotion or just gloss over it. My first version lacked a lot of heart in that department, and Stephanie poked and prodded me in the right direction. The result is something I'm incredibly proud of.

Notes: Duo POV. Out of all the Appearances series, this is probably my least favourite. I know what I was trying to do, but that didn't quite mesh to my end result. The two products were vastly different. I considered rewriting it completely while doing its revision, but decided that there was no way I could think of to actually fix it properly, and get it closer to my initial vision for this installment. Besides, even if I personally don't like it much, it does its job in furthering the story with these two, threads begun and continued in this run through later sections. I guess it'll just have to stay as one of my lesser favourites :)

Notes: Duo POV. The start of what has become a favourite series of mine, despite its rare character team-up. I fully blame Aoi and Shoori from the defunct website Love Is A Battlefield for getting me into the Duo/Trowa combination. Because it's not a common pairing, I felt comfortable exploring it, and not feeling like I was rehashing things that had been done hundreds of times before.
The first 3 installments were very graciously recommended at some awesome sites, and I'm still so very chuffed at that. This series is the kind that doesn't get a lot of feedback, but when it does, it's wonderful and very thoughtful.

Notes: AU. The original Runihura character is one from my original Egyptian fiction, which was a particular adaptation of Fox's character. Transplanted into FH, he was the template for what eventually became the character of Arath (with fewer Setian religious overtones). I am amused at this as Fox and Arath are so different, and so blatantly don't like each other. In reality, however, they have this very odd connection. I considered changing Runihura's name to Arath in this, but it really is such an early version of Arath's character, that it doesn't bear more than a passing resemblance to the person that came to appear regularly in FH. So Runihura he stays. Meanwhile, Runihura is an ancient Egyptian name meaning 'Destroyer', and I'm so happy with all the Setian religious ritual I invented.

Notes: It's been pointed out to me that this is a bit of a departure from my usual style, and I'd have to agree. I don't consider myself a very poetic person, but this is what I was trying to do with this piece. The introductory first few paragraphs that were cut out for pacing reasons went on to explain that Fox acting normally (at this point in time) would consist of touches of sexual innuendo, some inappropriate public behaviour, general silliness. But sometimes he just lets all of that stuff fall by the wayside, and be nothing but adoring (generally in private, otherwise Collin gets embarrassed). And this is the result -- total unfettered adoration. I tried to channel L'Hssein in this, I wanted to make the roots to his predecessor strong -- because L'Hssein is really the poet and the dreamer and the storyteller, it being one of the only ways he ever had to escape his cruddy life.
As I said, I'm not much of a poet, but I knew I didn't want to find appropriate poetry for Fox to spout -- he doesn't read it, either. He'd make up his own :) Therefore, I had to! In writing this, I remember it took ages to find the right words and descriptions I felt he would go with. I decided to go with themes, and it seemed to work well. In order, Fox goes with beach, lake, desert, finds religion, then forest/jungle :) There are a few notes on references in the religion paragraph at the end of this fic.
It's an obscure one, but I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Notes: Boy meets girl. Girl is out of boy's league. Boy does everything in his power to win girl anyway, as boy is a Maharassa and doesn't know when he's bitten off more than he can chew. If I remember correctly, in later FH strips, their story was changed slightly so that Padma and 'tari actually met when they were both in the US already. But initially, they met in her home country of Egypt, and emigrated to the US sometime before the birth of Fatima. This story takes place then. Somewhere in the wilds of the internet, there is a sequel to this written by Sandra called Stuck On You, though it could possibly be a friends-locked post on her LJ.
